Combat is balanced by a " rock–paper–scissors" counter-attack system, in which ground vehicles are effective in combat against infantry, infantry are effective against aircraft, and aircraft are effective against ground vehicles. The primary goal during a battle is typically to destroy an opponent's bases or to capture and control territories on the battlefield. In Halo Wars 2, players construct a base of operations, accumulate resources to produce infantry and vehicle units, and command their armies from a bird's-eye view of the battlefield. Conflict breaks out between the UNSC forces and an alien faction known as the Banished over control of the Ark. Spirit of Fire arrives at the Ark, a Forerunner installation responsible for constructing and remotely controlling the titular Halo rings. The story follows the crew of Spirit of Fire, a United Nations Space Command (UNSC) ship. The game is set in the science fiction universe of the Halo franchise in 2559. Just don’t expect it to win you over if you sit outside of that particular niche.Halo Wars 2 is a real-time strategy video game developed by 343 Industries and Creative Assembly. A decent campaign and the fast-paced fun of Blitz make for a rich and authentic Halo game that fans will love. Despite the skimp on tactics, though, there are some great set-piece moments. The finished package is a real-time strategy game without a huge amount of strategy. The only turn off for some will be the card decks themselves. Blitz is fast paced and a ton of fun, even if you play against the AI's increasingly difficult waves of enemies.
By destroying drop pods that rocket down from space you’ll accrue more power to play more cards to get more units, which in turn give you the numbers necessary to hold the multiple points on a map needed to avoid defeat. The effect on gameplay is to speed everything up, forcing you to mobilise and capture different control points. That said, we really like the game’s all-new Blitz mode – that aforementioned innovation – which sacks off building management and introduces a new element of play: customisable card decks. Outside the main campaign, Halo Wars 2 doesn’t offer a multiplayer with much depth.
